Bethany Lutheran Church: 40 Years of Faithful Ministry
Bethany Lutheran Church has been serving The Dalles community since 1985. It began with a small group of Christians committed to God’s Word and the confessions of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The first worship service was held on February 17, 1985, at the Kooper Kitchen restaurant (now Cousins). By May of that year, services moved to St. Peter’s Landmark, where the congregation worshiped for a decade before dedicating the current church building on October 22, 1995.
Rev. Frank Fiedler III was installed as Bethany’s first full-time pastor in July 1985. Since August 2019, Rev. Rob Lawson Jr. has led the congregation. While much has changed over the years—pastors, members, and even the world around us—Bethany’s commitment remains the same: to be a Christ-centered, Biblical church that proclaims God’s love and grace to The Dalles and beyond.
On Sunday, February 16, Bethany Lutheran Church joyfully celebrated 40 years of proclaiming God’s mercy in Jesus Christ. The anniversary was marked with a special worship service at 11 a.m. and a fellowship meal at 12:30 p.m.
We invite you to join us as we continue to share the Gospel and grow in faith together.
